Lohm Tshoem (vegan)
I was quite skeptical about this dish, as i would eat Dried Turnip Greens only when cooked with meat, back in the days. This dish proved it all wrong, it taste as delicious even when cooked without meat. or is it my taste buds changing?
40 gr. dried turnip greens
500 ml water
1 dried red Chilli (more or less as desired)
1 tbsp soya sauce
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp minced ginger
2 tbsp sunflower oil
I soaked the dried turnip greens for 2 hours this time in cold water to re-hydrate. Rinsed it thoroughly to remove all the dirts and grits.
1. Wash and half the chilli lengthwise. Finely chop the garlic and ginger.
2. Cook the turnip greens with water, salt and oil for approx. 30-45 minutes until they are tender.
3. Add in garlic, ginger and the soya sauce, give it a gentle mix and continue cooking slowly (uncovered) for another 10-15 minutes until the water evaporates (not completely).
4. Check the seasonings and enjoy with rice.
